Vehicle Accident Data

In reviewing data from the past year that is compiled by the State of Tennessee, some striking numbers appeared.  We have spoken in the past about the number of accidents and how the numbers break down by county throughout Middle Tennessee. The official www.tn.gov/safety/stats/crashdata for last year have not been released on the website. However, some preliminary numbers are already out there.

For example, in Smyrna and LaVergne alone there were 2,728 accidents of which 718 injury accidents in 2017. That number likely does not count all injuries as often people may not feel pain from an injury for 24-48 hours after the accident. That is in only those two areas alone. That is nearly 2 people injured in car accidents every day and over 7 car accidents every day.
